In his ongoing video art work art is, poetry is, music is, and myth is (Speaking Portraits), poet and artist George Quasha puts an impossible but unavoidable question before artists of all kinds and in many places: what is art? In response artists let us in on their private space of definition.

Since beginning the project in 2002, Quasha has filmed approximately a thousand artists, poets, and musicians in eleven countries, often bilingually.
